The Walking Score: Discover Your Walker Identity

A new metric to go beyond the daily streak Catégorie : Streak & Méthode

Since the creation of the WSWA, a single question guided each day: did you walk 3.2 km today? Simple, clear, effective. It is the rule that built our community.

But over time, another question emerged among our members: in the long run, what kind of walker am I really?

The streak answers the present. It says nothing about your past, your progression, or your consistency over months or years. To answer this question, we are launching the Walking Score today.

One Number, a Whole Story

The Walking Score is a value from 0 to 100 calculated over your entire WSWA history. Unlike the daily rings that measure your day, the Walking Score measures who you are as a walker.

It is based on four dimensions:

  • Regularity (35%)
The percentage of days you have validated a walk since your very first declaration. Someone who has walked 9 out of 10 days for a year has a completely different regularity than someone who walks in short bursts.

  • Consistency (25%)
Not just your current streak, but your entire history of series. How many times have you started? How many times did you return after a break? Your longest streak carries significant weight here.

  • Volume (20%)
Your average distance per walk across your entire history. Someone who regularly walks 6 km has a different profile than someone who walks exactly 3.2 km every day.

  • Trend (20%)
Are you making progress? Your performance over the last 30 days compared to the previous 60 days. Progress is valued; stagnation is neutral.

Intensity (Strava bonus)

If you are connected to Strava, your average pace enhances your score, normalized according to your age group. This bonus does not penalize those who do not use Strava. It rewards those who do.

Why It Changes Everything

Until now, two members with a 30-day active streak had the exact same indicator. With the Walking Score, their profiles can be very different: one at 82 because they have walked regularly for two years, the other at 51 because they just restarted after a long break. This is not a judgment. It is precision.

The score evolves slowly and does not fluctuate from one day to the next. It is a reputation, not a mood. And like any reputation, it is built over time.

Where Can You Find Your Walking Score?

It is available right now in your member area on wswa.world and in the WSWA mobile app, right above your daily rings. It displays after 7 validated walks.

And at the Same Time: Our Discord Opens Its Doors

For the Walking Score to be more than just a number, we needed a place to talk about it. Our Discord server is now open. It is a community space to share your scores, discuss your routines, and motivate each other.
