Health focus
Start with 3.2 km a day in one walk. No equipment needed — just consistency. Your first Bronze certification awaits at 30 days.
You already walk? WSWA certifies what you do. Connect Strava or declare on your honour — join the World Registry.
Rankings, badges, Grand Tour, footprints — WSWA is built for those who love to progress and compare.
3.2 km ≈ 35 min of walking — aligned with WHO recommendations. Regular walking reduces sedentary risks. Science & references →

30 days at 3.2 km/day → Bronze

One clear rule for everyone

Science & references: foundations, WHO & FAQ →

📏 3.2 km minimum
  • Each outing counted individually on foot
  • No adding up short walks — several 3.2 km+ outings the same day are summed
  • About 35 to 45 min at a comfortable pace
📅 Every calendar day
  • The day runs from 00:00 to 23:59
  • Platform reference: Europe/Paris
  • No carry-over to the next day
🚫 Consistency as the rule
  • One missed day closes the streak
  • You can always restart the next day
  • Walker mode remains available without mandatory continuity
Concrete example: a 3.2 km walk in the morning + a 7.5 km walk in the evening = 10.7 km counted, 1 single streak day (never two, however many outings you log).
On the other hand, a 2 km walk + another 2 km walk does not validate the day: each outing must individually reach 3.2 km, small walks are never added together to reach the threshold.

Log your walk and track your progress in the Registry.

Streak or Walker: both are valid

Start with the framework that suits you right now. You can switch between them at any time, depending on your fitness level, lifestyle or health goal.

🔥 Streaker Mode
  • Walk every day without exception
  • Builds a walking streak
  • Official certifications Bronze → Legend
  • Automatically closed if one day is missed
🚶 Walker Mode
  • Walk whenever you want, no daily requirement
  • Lifetime km and outing accumulation
  • Badges and progress without a mandatory streak
  • Can start a streak at any time

Both modes coexist. A walker can activate a streak whenever they choose; their km history is preserved.

Validation philosophy

"A walking streak is a personal matter before it is a matter of proof. Nobody can walk for you."
  • 🤝
    Honour-based system

Like runeveryday.com since 2000: you declare your distance, the system records it. The goal is to support a lasting habit, not to monitor you.

  • 🟠
    Automatic Strava validation available

Optional: a Walk, Hike or Run activity ≥ 3.2 km automatically validates your day. Details below.

  • 🔍
    Audit possible

For higher levels (Gold, Platinum, Legend), a review may be requested by the board.

Frequently asked questions

💳 Is WSWA free?
Yes. Membership is entirely free. Donations are welcome to support the association, but never required.
🤒 I am sick
Streak closed. No suspension. Fresh start when you recover. This has been the SRI/USRSA rule for 25 years.
✈️ I am travelling (time zone change)
Use the time zone of your current location. A Paris → LA flight can create a "short day" — walk in the airport or on the plane.
🌧 Extreme weather
Treadmill or indoor walking. No weather exceptions.
🏃 I run — does it count?
Yes. Running is fast walking — same bipedal movement, same muscles, same daily habit logic. 3.2 km run = 3.2 km walked. If you use Strava, a Run activity ≥ 3.2 km is detected and validated automatically, just like a Walk or Hike.
🦽 I have a physical disability
WSWA accepts any form of active movement covering 3.2 km. Each case is handled with care by the board.
🏥 Full hospitalisation
Streak closed. The board acknowledges the situation. Health comes before the rule, and a fresh start is encouraged as soon as possible.
⌚ I forgot to log before midnight
Streak automatically closed the next morning. No catch-up possible.

Walking Score — your form right now

A single number (0–100) reflecting how you're walking right now, not a lifetime record: Recent regularity, Recent volume, Current streak, Trend — plus a Strava intensity bonus. Available from 7 activities.

Other ways to automate your validation

Don't use Strava directly? Garmin, Apple Watch, Polar, Suunto, Fitbit and COROS can all sync automatically once linked to Strava.

What we expect from members

  • Only declare what was actually done
  • Do not claim a certification that has not been earned
  • Report any technical issue within 7 days
  • Proven false declaration → streak cancelled + temporary exclusion
"WSWA is not a data game. It is a record of what actually happened."

What it means to appear in the registry

👤
Your public identity

Your first name + initial (or username) visible publicly, with your country, start date and level.

📜
Permanent record

Closed streak → remains in the historical registry for life. Your performance never disappears.

Badges in brief

In addition to certifications, you can unlock dozens of badges that reward your progress: cumulative distance, walking habits and consistency.

🌍 Distance
  • 100 km, 1,000 km, 3,200 km
🌅 Habits
  • Early Bird, Night Owl, Last Call…
🔥 Challenges
  • First Steps, streak milestones, one-off challenges

Your consistency score

Every validated walk earns you a Footprint. They're your long-term consistency score — combining distance, streak, weather and pace bonuses into a single number that ranks you in the community. Unlike a streak, Footprints never reset: they accumulate over your entire WSWA journey.

The 3 WSWA Rings

Every day, three rings update automatically after your sync: Streak (3.2 km minimum), Volume (your personal 7-day average), Regularity (Perfect Day (both closed)).
